Drab to Fab

Here are some upcycled projects I have been working on to sell at Paper Dolls, a consignment shop for woman in Texarkana.

I'm prego and it's a boy!!

Our family is so excited that we are having a boy!
no one was able to be with me at the doctors apt. so I had the technician write the gender of the baby down on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. I gave the envelope to our sweet friends, Matt and Kate Reynolds. That night they had us over for dinner, had us close our eyes and surprised us with these awesome it's a boy cupcakes!! We were all screaming with excitement, a moment I will never forget.

Update!

My husband and I finally painted our 3 year olds room and added a few more thing, its still a work in progress, only a few more little touches. here is the room so far..

I found some old embroidery hoops at a thrift store and hooped them with cute colorful matching and contrasting fabrics. And embroidered letters on three of them to spell out my daughters name.

My husband made this cute little art shelf for me! I got the idea off another blogger! http://www.frugalhomedesigns.com/ and i found the tin buckets in the dollar section at target.

Amelia in Wonderland!

I haven't blogged in forever so This is my attempt at catching up.. My oldest daughter had a Birthday in March, the theme was Amelia in wonderland! When they arrived the all received an apron with their name on it that I made and embroidered then into the back yard they went to play some Crockett. ha ha they had never even seen Crockett before, I found a set at salvation Army for $14.

Then they went inside for pizza and a movie. They watched the old school Alice in Wonderland that I found at a flea market for $2. They also received the rest of their goodies... a tea pot ring, bunny ears, and an Alice in Wonderland wand!
Then on to the main event! They had a "tea Party" but instead of tea and biscuits The girls enjoyed cupcakes, sugar cookies, and Chocolate milk.
I searched every thrift store and flea market for all the table decoration with the exception of some of the candles and holders that I bought at Hobby Lobby, on clearance of course. I covered the table with cute fabric and covered the back of the chairs with pillow cases I found at Salvation Army. I also found a bunny, little mouse, a cat that I took the face off of and made it look like the Cheshire cat. I struck gold at all the flea markets, finding all the cute mixed matched cups and saucers and tea pots. The cute invitation you see displayed on the table if made by my good friend Heather Carr, who does all my invitations, the cutest invites you have ever seen!

My friend Kate's Baby shower goodies!

I can't tell you how excited I am that our friends Matt and Kate Reynolds are having a baby!

A couple of my friends and I planned a baby shower for Kate and little baby Reese, I knew right away that I was going to ask my husband to make the cake and I was going to make my famous sugar cookies!

My husband Bobby has been inspired by the Cake Boss and this year decided that he could do that too, ha ha!

So far he has made three cakes and this was going to be his first "custom cake"
He actually is really good at it and they taste amazing!

So here are the results..

Just for fun

Last week I was in the mood to Bake!

So I decided to make a cake from scratch for the very first time, one of the youth group girls in my husbands student ministry actually gave me the recipe.

here it is..

Peanut Buttery Chocolate Cake - American Profile

Peanut Buttery Chocolate Cake

it turned out really good! I had my husband take it to work with him after I had a piece of course and it was all gone in about an hour ha ha

that didn't satisfy my urge to bake so I got my 3 year old in the kitchen with me to help me make our little dog Gus some dog biscuits!
It is such an easy fun thing to do with a little one!

here is the recipe..

I bought the little dog bone cookie cutter from Hobby Lobby and we also used those mini cookie cutters from pampered chef, Eva loved cutting out hearts and stars!

Let's get down to business!

I have been in the process of redecorating my two year old's room and it has taken me forever to decide a theme and to even get started because lets face it, it can be expensive..new comforter, paint, pillows, curtain etc.. it can add up. well what other way to get over that obstacle than to make it yourself and find those bargains! so here's what I have so far...

1.First I spray painted her red table and chairs that I got from Ikea sea breeze blue that I found at Walmart for around$2

2.at target I found this comforter set on sale for only $22

3.I made the little bird pillow to eventually pull everything together

4.I found this birdcage at a indoor flea market for $5, spray painted it the same color at the table and chairs and made some cute little stuffed birds to live in it.

My husband is in the process of making a doll house and some shelves for an art center and then we will start painting the walls yellow!

My first post!

Today is a perfect day to make my very first blog post! My 8 year old, Amelia had off of school today, it actually snowed In Texarkana, and I had all my cleaning and laundry done...that means time to sew and fun time with the kids. it's 11:30 and I already made a dress for my sister in law to give as a gift to her friend who is about to have a baby, went outside with the kids and the dog and made a snowman, now we are inside drinking hot cocco and watching a movie!
